Welcome!

Hello! My name is LaRae Steffan and I've been employed with a Head Start grantee as a compliance coordinator for over eight years.  This position has enabled me to become highly knowledgeable in childcare licensing regulations and Head Start Performance Standards. I am well aware of the training requirements placed on childcare providers. I am equally aware of the difficulties associated with finding qualified training providers. EC H.E.N.S. Consulting was established to provide a variety of services and training to early childhood providers by one qualified professional.  

As an early childhood professional and founder of EC H.E.N.S. Consulting, I believe education is about more than content mastery. I believe it is about creating a safe and caring environment where children are free to think critically, be inquisitive, and grow. This can only happen if childcare facilities create healthy relationships and environments that are physically safe and utilize developmentally appropriate practices. With EC H.E.N.S. Consulting by your side, we can ensure your staff continues to provide high-quality care in safe environments.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of Lord Fairfax Community College where I received my Career Studies Certificate and second Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Early Childhood Development. I received my first AAS degree in Business Systems Administration from ECPI Technical College. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Christopher Newport University. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Education from Regent University. 

I was born in California and raised in Virginia, where I currently reside with my daughter, my mother, and our three cats. I enjoy reading, traveling, listening to music, and volunteering with Awaken Kids and Awaken Youth ministries at my church (Awaken Church).
