Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
I am a member of the National CACFP Sponsor's Association. I have been a certified CACFP Child Nutrition Professional since 2018 and a certified CACFP Management Professional since 2021. My experience allows me to monitor meals and review menus to ensure your facility continues serving CACFP-approved meals and snacks. Contact me today for pricing.
The CACFP program provides nutritious meals and snacks to a variety of childcare centers, emergency shelters, adult care programs, and more. All Head Start centers are required to participate in CACFP. Participating institutions receive reimbursement by serving nutritious meals to eligible individuals enrolled at these facilities.
According to Title 7, Code of Federal Regulations (7 CFR), section 226.16 (d)(4)(iii), a sponsor must:
conduct at least three (3) visits, two (2) of which must be unannounced
ensure at least one (1) of the unannounced visits includes a meal service observation
ensure the timing of unannounced visits is varied so they are unpredictable
review all new sites within four (4) weeks of beginning operations
ensure no more than six (6) months elapse between visits to each site
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) administers the CACFP through state grants. The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) administers the CACFP program in Virginia and is considered an indicator of quality care.
